TLX and Consum Supermercados Go Electric
TLX and Consum Supermercados Drive Forward with 100% Electric Refrigerated Last-Mile Trucks
TLX, a family-owned transport and logistics company from Disfrimur Group, in partnership with Consum Supermercados, proudly announces its role in a pioneering initiative to electrify and decarbonize refrigerated delivery trucks. This project reflects Consum’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and urban logistics innovation.
1. Transforming Last-Mile Logistics with Electric Trucks
As part of this initiative, TLX— an associated carrier of the Disfrimur Group specialized in last-mile transport—has teamed up with Addvolt, JAC Motors Iberia, and Frigicoll to integrate five new 100% electric refrigerated trucks into its fleet. These 7.5-ton electric vehicles offer silent, emission-free operation and are already active on delivery routes connecting Consum's logistics hubs in Las Torres de Cotillas and Finestrat to six retail locations in the city of Benidorm.
This solution marks a significant step toward cleaner urban distribution by drastically reducing environmental impact without compromising cold chain performance.
2. Proven Impact: 9 Tons of CO₂ Emissions Avoided in 6 Months
Over the past six months, this electrification project has successfully prevented the release of nine tons of CO₂ emissions, contributing to quieter, cleaner city deliveries.
The decarbonization of the refrigeration process has been made possible through the use a Thermo King electric refrigeration unit, powered by the Addvolt Power Unit.
The system taps into the truck’s battery capacity, enabling autonomous electric refrigeration while maintaining full route autonomy. This setup ensures intelligent energy management, supports uninterrupted cold chain operations, and reduces the need for fossil fuels—making last-mile logistics more efficient and sustainable.
3. Collaboration as a Catalyst for Change
This transformational project demonstrates the power of collaboration across the transport and logistics ecosystem. TLX, along with its trusted partners Addvolt, JAC Motors Iberia, and Frigicoll, is driving real-world progress in sustainable logistics. Working together with Consum Supermercados, the partners are shaping a fully electrified, low-emission logistics model for refrigerated goods.
